Inbox - The Week's Whisky News (October 2, 2020)

Welcome to Inbox, our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our WFE email. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday. Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information. Here is the news from this week ...

Rampur
The Indian single malt brand of Rampur has announced a new expression that is the world's first to be matured in Indian wine casks - the Rampur Asava. The whisky began its maturation in American oak ex-bourbon barrels before being transferred to ex-Cabernet Sauvignon wine casks from an unnamed Indian winery for a finishing period. The new whisky will be exclusive the UK via specialist retailer The Whisky Exchange from mid-October. It is bottled at 45% ABV and is non chill-filtered and of natural colour. A bottle will cost £68.95.

"I was inspired to create the Asava as I wanted to see how the dark fruit flavours of an Indian Cabernet Sauvignon wine would develop the flavour of Rampur. I am delighted with the results as there is an impeccable balance of taste."
Anup Barik - Master Distiller at Rampur.
