Distillery Visit - Paul John



The Paul John distillery in Goa has been helping to to put Indian single malt on the world whisky map with a string of award-winning products. Tobias Gorn, friend of us at Whisky For Everyone, was recently invited to visit as part of his work with the IWSC and agreed to write about it for us.

To be invited to a distillery many miles away in Goa, India is a great honour and pleasure. The story begins when I had the recent privilege to be invited to judge at an Indian drinks competition in Mumbai; my good friend, fellow judge and whisky legend Steve Beal received an invite which he kindly extended to some fellow international judges. The kindness and generosity was greatly appreciated and I could not refuse.

New releases - Paul John Brilliance & Edited



Paul John is the newest addition to the Indian whisky scene. It is produced by John Distilleries, who produce the popular Original Choice blended whisky.  This is one of India's biggest whisky brands and the seventh best selling whisky by volume in the world, with annual sales of over 60 million bottles. The company decided to branch out in to the premium single malt whisky sector and Paul John is the result. After a couple of single cask releases, which caught the attention of commentators and writers including Jim Murray, the Brilliance and Edited are their first two core range products.

New release - Paul John Single Cask #161

Paul John is the newest addition to the growing number of whiskies that are coming out of India.  It is produced by John Distilleries - they produce the Original Choice blended whisky, which is one of India's biggest whisky brands and the seventh best selling whisky by volume in the world, with annual sales of over 60 million bottles.  The company has decided to branch out in to the premium single malt whisky sector and Paul John is the result.  They have selected a single cask as the first release and this will be followed by other single casks in time.
