Bowmore - Room at the inn?
Morrison Bowmore Distillers, part of the larger Beam Suntory group, has announced that it has taken ownership of The Harbour Inn, which is located very close to its Bowmore distillery on Islay. The hotel is situated in the main street of Bowmore, the capital of the famous whisky island, and has been refurbished in a modern style. The features include seven en suite bedrooms, an award-winning restaurant that showcases local produce, a small whisky bar and a conservatory that looks out across Loch Indaal.
Anne Kinnes, the Visitor Centre Operations and Development Manager at Bowmore, said: “In growing the Bowmore business to include the Harbour Inn, this is a very exciting time for us. We are looking forward to the opportunity of welcoming guests to experience our world class service on Islay.”
Laphroaig - Celebrations kick off
The best selling Islay distillery have announced the first part of its 200 year anniversary activity. A limited edition 15 year old expression has been created due to popular demand by the distillery's Friends of Laphroaig members group and consists of casks selected by Distillery Manager John Campbell. It is bottled at 43% and has a retail price of £67.50.
There will be 72,000 bottles available worldwide in due course. The first 2,500 were made available to the Friends of Laphroaig earlier in the week and these sold out in record time, which caused the Laphroaig website to crash. If you missed out, there will be plenty of opportunity to purchase a bottle in the future. The Friends of Laphroaig is free to join - to sign up, please visit www.laphroaig.com.
