Review | Ardnahoe Inaugural Release 5 years old
The Ardnahoe Inaugural Release 5 years old is the first ever bottling from the Islay distillery, which is owned by renowned independent bottlers Hunter Laing & Co. It is the first new whisky from a new distillery on Islay since Kilchoman released their first bottling back in 2009. Ardnahoe translates as 'height of the hollow' from Scots Gaelic and sits on the rugged northeastern coast of Islay. They make a mid-range peated style of spirit.

Review - Scarabus
The Scarabus is a new Islay single malt that has been recently released by the family owned independent bottling company and distiller of Hunter Laing & Co. The new whisky, which is an old Nordic word for 'rocky place', was initially previewed at the company's Ardnahoe distillery on Islay during the Feis Ile 2019 in May. The whisky, which comes from an un-named Islay distillery, is bottled at 46% ABV. Scarabus is available to buy and sample at the Ardnahoe visitor centre shop and selected specialist whisky retailers worldwide. A bottle will cost around £33.

Fèis Ìle 2018 - Something Old, Something New
| The one photo of Ardnahoe we can show. |
The annual Fèis Ìle is upon us again. The world descends on the famous whisky producing Hebredian island of Islay for a week of events, whisky and music. Matt is amongst them and will be reporting back at various points during the week.
________
The locals were beginning to tell us that Islay was always like this. It was difficult not to believe them as the sunny and warm weather continued through the annual Feis Ile week and in to the Bowmore open day on Wednesday.
Of course, those of us that have visited before knew that Islay can be a fickle beast – fine one minute and then truly wretched the next. So far, we kept our fingers crossed for the rest of the week.
