Welcome to Inbox, our weekly round up of whisky news and PR material that has found its way in to our WFE email. It was created as we cannot write full articles or do justice to every piece received. It features items from around the world of whisky and is published by us each Friday. Of course, today is Black Friday so there are a couple of items related to this.
Within Inbox we aim to write a few lines detailing each press release/piece of news/PR event that we have received and provide links, where possible, for you to find out further information. This is the news that has grabbed our attention this week.
________
Eden Mill
The Scottish craft distillery of Eden Mill has launched a limited edition single malt to celebrate St. Andrew's Day. The release sees the heaviest influence of ex-sherry casks yet. It features a combination of ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead casks with ex-bourbon barrels. There are just 3,000 bottles and these will be distributed in to selected markets globally. Each bottle features artwork by linocut printer Hilke MacIntyre. The Eden Mill St. Andrew's 2019 Edition is bottled at 46.5% ABV and will cost £79/ $105 US each.
Glendronach
The east Highland distillery has announced the launch of a new smoky expression to its range - the Glendronach Traditionally Peated. The whisky pays homage to the robust earthy smoke that would have been prevalent throughout the Highlands in the early 19th century when Glendronach was founded. Traditionally Peated combines rare smoky spirit, which is only made at the distillery for a short period each year, that has been maturing in three types of cask - ex-Oloroso and ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry barrels, plus ex-Port pipes.
The Glendronach Traditionally Peated is bottled at 48% ABV and is non chill-filtered and of natural colour. It will be available from selected specialist retailers with a recommmended price of £51/ $66 US per bottle.
Glenrothes
The Speyside distillery of Glenrothes has revealed a limited edition 19 years old expression that is exclusive to World Duty Free and World of Whiskies outlets at London's Heathrow airport. There are just 274 bottles available and these have come from a single ex-bourbon cask (cask #8190) that was filled on 21 June 1999. The release forms part of the brand's wider Exclusive Single Cask Edition series for travel retail. This 19 years old is bottled at the natural cask strength of 54.4% ABV and will retail for £180 each.
