BITE Festival - Glenfiddich dinner
The Bespoke International Taste Extravaganza (or BITE for short) is a new food festival organised by the international hotel group Bespoke Hotels. The festival will be based at two of the company's hotels - The Cotswold House and The Noel Arms - which are located in Chipping Campden in the English county of Gloucestershire. BITE is designed to combine the best of local artisan produce with Michelin starred food and a series of events are planned, which can be seen on the BITE website. It runs between 27 January and 2 February.
Anyway, why are we telling you this? Well, one of the events combines two of our favourite things - good food and whisky. The five course dinner, to be held at The Cotswold House, will see food prepared by the award-winning chef Mat Follas. Each course is designed to accompany one of the single malts from the world famous Glenfiddich range, which will be explained to diners by UK Brand Ambassador Jamie Milne. Tickets are £75 a head and can be booked through the BITE website. You can also keep up with festival news and updates on Twitter by following @BITE2013. The famous Highland distillery of Glenmorangie have announced the fourth bottling in their annual Private Edition range - the Ealanta. The name means 'skilled and ingenious' in Gaelic and the whisky follows the innovative track of the previous three releases in the series - the Sonnalta, Finealta & Artein. The Ealanta is 19 years of age and selected from virgin American oak casks which were filled in 1993. It has been bottled at 46% ABV and is available in specialist whisky retailers in the UK now for a recommended price of £75.
Dr. Bill Lumsden, the Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie, comments, "The casks selected way back then were absolutely top quality and unusually had not previously held any liquor, such as bourbon, so it’s the interaction of our delicate spirit from our very tall stills directly with this ‘virgin’ wood that makes for many intriguing flavours. New wood also imparts a purity of flavour that I think many Glenmorangie aficionados will find an interesting divergence from our previous Private Edition releases."
